Marsha and I made the trip to Manhattan even though it was well below freezing in Soho the night of the January, 2009 opening of "The Playground," an exhibition at the Puffin Room which included two of my friend Scott Shannon's eight foot square portraits done with Crayola crayons. I have known Scott for more than half his life and have enjoyed watching his considerable talents develop.

We arrived late at the opening and the folks at the Puffin Room were reluctant to let us in. They only permitted us to stay for a moment so this snapshot was taken in the street in front of the gallery.
