Jonathan Talbot Explore composition and the creation of a personal visual vocabulary with internationally-known artist, Jonathan Talbot. Enjoy opportunities for new spontaneity as you learn his exciting collage technique that eliminates liquid adhesives from the collage-assembly process. Other subjects covered include the"paperless" transfer of printed and photocopied images, tissue overlays, permanency of materials, preparation of substrates, sources of tools and materials, presentation and framing of finished works, and more. crystal ball Monday, May 1 thru Thursday, May 4, 2017. The Artist's Studio - Warwick, NY: 4-DAY COLLAGE INTENSIVE: New Approaches, Techniques, and Implications. During this workshop in the artist's studio we will create an intentional artistic community in which we will all learn from one another. As we explore composition and refine our personal visual vocabularies, we will reflect on past successes and failures, revise our individual goals as needed, and plan future projects. ///// Together we will discover new perspectives which will allow us to see our works and their evolution more clearly. From the formulating of group goals to the collecting of works for a final critique, this five-day intensive will be filled with challenging activities designed to increase our technical knowledge, broaden the scope of our vision, and empower our creative inspiration as we produce exciting new works. By examining our responses to a variety of mediums we will find new insights into our individual creative efforts. ///// Subjects for investigation include Acquiring Visual Language Skills, Collage without Liquid Adhesives, Color Theory, The Grammar of Visual Language, Paperless Image Transfer, The Mathematics of Composition, Making Prints from Paintings & Collages, Finding the Muse, The Artist and Society, Framing and Presentation of Finished Works, Finding Exhibition Opportunities, and more. The following partial list of topics to be explored is subject to change at the request of the participants: Collage on Paper, Canvas, and Composite Substrates; Creating Large Versions of Successful Small Works; Creation of a Personal Visual Vocabulary; Collage without Liquid Adhesives; Image Transfer; Advanced Acrylic Painting Techniques; Combining Collage with Acrylic, Watercolors and Oils; Approaching Composition through Metaphor; Framing and Presentation of Finished Works; Techniques for Teaching Visual Language Skills; Leading Successful Workshops; and more. Hours: 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Fee: $750.
