JONATHAN TALBOT CREATES COLLAGE
TO CELEBRATE THE CENTENNIAL OF THE
MIDDLETOWN THRALL LIBRARY

1901-2001

In the fall of 2000, artist Jonathan Talbot was commissioned by the Friends of Middletown Thrall Library to create a collage celebrating the centennial of the library. After a year-long process which included community input meetings, meetings with students, and meetings with members of various historical societies, the collage was completed, installed, and dedicated on November 4, 2001. It is now on permanent display at the Middletown Thrall Library in Middletown, NY.

Photos of the installation and the work appear below. A more extensive website devoted to this work and its content is planned.

Getting the more-than-200-pound collage up on the wall required considerable effort. Garret Talbot (looking at camera), Thrall Library's head of maintenance Brad McGovern, and the artist rest after the job. Randy Enos, President of the Friends of Thrall Library also helped lift but is not pictured (he took the photo).
